RF1200 supports UHF Passive RFID capabilities for Thermal Printers, Print and Apply and Sortation Equipment

The Ensyc Technologies RF1200 RFID reader/writer board makes it possible for manufacturers of thermal printers, print and apply mechanisms and sortation equipment to inexpensively add RFID to their products.

Steve Jessup, Ensyc CEO, explains, "We see the RF1200 as a simple and highly cost-effective way for OEM manufacturers to deliver products that support RFID intelligent tagging and tracking for the Supply Chain Industry."

The RF1200 RFID interrogator/encoder board provides an integrated sensor and a high level of connectivity, including RS232 or TTL communications and two user-definable IO (Input/Output) connections in a small footprint, low power package. The controller supports both the EPC Class 1 and GEN 2 protocols operating in the UHF 860-960 MHz range, and is expected to support the upcoming ISO 18000 Part 6C protocol when finalized. Its small footprint, low power and range characteristics are ideally suited for the embedded RFID market.

Firmware on the RF1200 Reader may be upgraded in the field, allowing manufacturers to issue user-installable product enhancements and upgrades needed to meet varying standards requirements.

Initial OEM pricing on the RF1200 is expected to be approximately $250 per unit with substantial discounts for large volume orders.

"The very low cost of the RF1200 board is unprecedented. It gives participating OEM manufacturers a real marketing advantage," notes Jessup.
